Buchan Virtual Gallery
There is no question that 2020 has seen an acceleration in the adoption of technology; from Zoom and MS Teams meetings with colleagues to family Messenger chat groups, virtual communication is more prevalent than ever as we adapt to a world in which we are often distant, but not disconnected from one another. So too, our interaction with the built environment is no longer confined to the tangible, instead we have the freedom to explore structures – both real and imagined – virtually.
Buchan’s Virtual Gallery examines this concept, allowing visitors to step inside and explore a structure which only exists online. Adapted from an architectural concept that was never built, the Virtual Gallery considers how we can breathe new life into architecture through digital mediums.
Breaking down the physical barriers and geographic borders inherent with a traditional gallery structure, the Virtual Gallery creates an environment in which both the building and the art it houses are given the chance to thrive, adapt and grow online.
As visitors move through our curated spaces they are invited to engage with a range of artistic mediums created by our talented staff and also take a 3D tour of our Gold Coast studio. The Virtual Gallery considers how our understanding of what a building is may adapt in the increasingly tech-focussed world we all find ourselves in.
We invite you to step inside (or should we say click inside) and explore Buchan’s Virtual Gallery.
